On the first day of the 11th WKF Central Asian Karate Championships, which kicked off in Aktau, Turkmenistan's athletes won four medals – gold, silver, and two bronze, according to the online newspaper "Golden Age."

The three-day competition brought together approximately 500 athletes from six countries: Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Medals were awarded to cadets, juniors, and adults in the disciplines of kata (a demonstration of formal exercises) and kumite (a competition).

According to the Karate-do Federation of Turkmenistan, the national team is represented at the tournament by 36 athletes, four coaches, six judges, and one representative.

On the first day of the championship, Turkmen athletes excelled in the kata competition.

Muhammetresul Khairullayev, a seventh-grade student at Secondary School No. 18 in Bayramaly, Mary velayat, won the gold medal in the under-14 category.

Silver in the juniors 16-17 category went to Allanur Yalkabov, an 11th-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 52.

The bronze medalists in the youngest age group (10-11 years) were Musa Gurbanov, a fifth-grade student at Secondary School No. 6 in Bayramaly, Mary velayat, and Shirmuhammet Garymyradov, a fourth-grade student at Secondary School No. 11 in the same city.
