The humanoid robot "Volodya" completed a test ride on train No. 768, Russian Railways reported. Its duties include greeting passengers at the boarding gate, checking documents and tickets, and assisting passengers in finding a seat. According to the company, "Volodya" also conducted a wine tasting in the bistro car.

Russian Railways did not disclose the robot's manufacturer, its operating details, or its plans for scaling the project.

TASS reported in June 2026 that the company could begin using robots to assist train conductors. At the time, Russian Railways stated that it had tested the solution on a “Lastochka” train without passengers and noted that the company was receiving and reviewing test proposals from various manufacturers.

In 2024, Russian Railways tested robotic dogs on potentially hazardous sections of the railway. In 2026, the company announced the use of autonomous cleaning robots at train stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as a robot for cleaning station squares and platforms.
