The Turkmen Foreign Ministry discussed prospects for developing relations with Algeria

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, International Head of the Foreign Ministry Mahri Bashimova met with the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara) Boumediene Gennad, who presented copies of his credentials.

According to the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission, Bashimova congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and assured him of the Turkmen side's readiness to assist him in his diplomatic activities.

During the conversation, the parties discussed prospects for developing bilateral ties in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural spheres. They noted the need for regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as the importance of organizing visits at the highest and most senior levels.

The diplomats expressed support for developing interparliamentary cooperation and strengthening the legal framework for cooperation. The parties expressed their intention to continue their partnership within international structures, primarily the UN, in the interests of ensuring peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Regarding trade and economic cooperation, the parties agreed to participate in international exhibitions and business forums held in Ashgabat and Algiers. Agriculture and the textile industry were identified as promising areas.

The need to expand cultural and humanitarian ties was also discussed – in particular, establishing contacts between the ministries of culture, education, and higher education institutions of the two countries, implementing educational programs, and developing cooperation in sports and tourism.

Following the meeting, the diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Turkmen-Algerian relations in all areas of mutual interest.
