Audi unveiled the largest crossover in the brand's history

Audi officially unveiled the new Q9 SUV, the largest and most expensive SUV in the brand's history. A sporty SQ9 variant with a nearly 600-horsepower V8 engine was also unveiled. Both models will be Audi's flagship models and will compete with the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Range Rover.

Previously, the Q7 crossover was considered the largest Audi model, but the Q9 surpasses it in size. The new model is 5,311 mm long, with a wheelbase of 3140 mm. This is approximately 25 cm longer than the Q7, and the Q9's body length even exceeds that of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan. Buyers will have access to six- and seven-seat versions. The second row will be available with either a three-seat bench or two individual seats.

The interior follows the same architecture as other new Audi models and includes three displays: a digital instrument cluster, a central multimedia system screen, and a separate screen for the front passenger. Top-of-the-line trim levels include seat massage, five-zone climate control, a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, a panoramic roof, and a suite of driver assistance systems.

The base Audi Q9 is equipped with a 2,9-liter V6 engine producing 429 hp. The SQ9 is equipped with a 4,0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 591 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3,8 seconds. Both versions can tow up to 3,5 tons.

North America will be the primary market for the new model, expected to account for approximately two-thirds of sales. In the US, prices will start at approximately 89 thousand USD for the Audi Q9 and 119 thousand USD for the SQ9. Sales are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026.
