The 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee officially concluded in Busan, South Korea. The session was attended by approximately 3000 representatives from 196 UNESCO member countries.

Turkmenistan was represented at the forum by Chinar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for UNESCO, and Begench Durdyev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea.

During the session, 25 new sites were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, of which 19 are cultural, 5 are natural, and one is mixed (the natural and cultural area of Mount Olympus in Greece).

Following the session, the Busan Declaration was adopted. Ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul, Permanent Delegate of Türkiye to UNESCO, was elected Chair of the 49th session. The next session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will be held from June 27 to July 7 in Istanbul.
