At the Bereket railway station, experienced locomotive depot engineer Begmurad Garatayev told a correspondent from the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper about the new Chinese-made freight locomotives that arrived at the depot.

According to a driver who has worked at the depot for 26 years, he is currently testing a new freight locomotive from “CRRC Ziyan Co Ltd”. The locomotive's traction capacity exceeds six thousand tons, significantly higher than previous models. The new locomotives can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h.

The driver noted that the new tractor differs in every respect from the previous equipment, as demonstrated during heavy-duty export operations. He stated that the increased power and speed of the new locomotives will increase the volume of freight transported and reduce delivery times both within the country and in transit to neighboring countries.

The Bereket Station Locomotive Depot, a branch of “Demirýollary” Public Joint-Stock Company, was built in 2017 and is equipped with modern facilities for locomotive maintenance, light repairs, and major overhauls, including an electrical equipment shop and a forge shop. The station is a major transit point on the railway route linking the east and west of the country.
