Yesterday, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan launched a five-day series of events dedicated to coordination issues and providing technical support for the first cargo shipments using the “e-TIR” international digital system.

According to the customs service's website, the program includes a technical seminar on the practical aspects of implementing the “e-TIR” system in Turkmenistan, as well as the organization of the first pilot shipment along the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan route.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the customs authorities of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as international organizations - the IRU, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The practical phase of the events will continue from July 22 to 24 at the Turkmenbashy International Seaport with the support of the UNECE. Pilot cargo shipments using the “e-TIR” system will be conducted there, and IRU expert Vakhtang Zarandia will conduct training sessions.
