Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the II International Festival of Young Poets of the Turkic World, held in the Republic of Azerbaijan on July 16-17.

The international festival was organized jointly by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Turkmen delegation included creative figures Kerim Hallyev, Garahanjar Bayhanov, and Yusuf Meredov, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.

On the opening day, an event dedicated to Vagif's Poetry Days took place in the square in front of the museum and reserve complex of the classic Azerbaijani poet Molla Penah Vagif in Shusha. The ceremony was opened by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli; the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Rayev; the Deputy Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan, Reshat Majid; and a number of literary figures.

Young poets were awarded during the festival. For their contribution to the development of culture, art, and literature in the Turkic world, Kerim Hallyev, the dance troupe leader from the Gazojak Community Center in the Darganata etrap of the Lebap velayat, and Garahanjar Bayhanov, a correspondent for the “Gunesh” magazine, were awarded the “Molla Penah Vagif” medal.

Yusuf Meredov, a second-year student of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva, was awarded a TURKSOY diploma.
