In Dashoguz velayat, sowing of autumn carrots was completed on 40 hectares of land. Farmers intend to collect at least 720 tons of autumn harvest, “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.

Carrots are grown in the region twice a year, and the bulk of planting (on 730 hectares) occurred in the spring. To date, 180 centners of crops per hectare have already been collected.

Varieties of yellow carrots are usually grown here, which have high yields and acceptable ripening periods, are distinguished by their sweet taste and juiciness. It tolerates heat well and is also considered cold-resistant, therefore suitable for growing in the weather and climatic conditions of the velayat.

In addition to this crop, about 25 thousand tons of tomatoes, over 9,5 thousand tons of cabbage, more than 2 thousand tons of cucumbers are grown in the velayat annually, and onions are harvested twice a year, the source notes.
