Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a regular meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, during which the results of activities for the first half of 2026 were reviewed and topical issues of further improving the work on the implementation of the country’s initiatives and obligations within the framework of cooperation with the UN on issues of education, science and culture were discussed.

The participants paid special attention to the issues of expanding cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in connection with the official receipt by Turkmenistan of the status of an observer state with this organization. Within the framework of the discussion, promising directions and mechanisms for further interaction with ISESCO were considered.

At the meeting, priority tasks for further strengthening the international cooperation of Turkmenistan with authoritative international organizations were identified, as well as directions for work for the coming period were outlined, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
