The 10th anniversary of Türkiye's Democracy and National Unity Day was marked in Ashgabat

A ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the Day of Democracy and National Unity—a commemorative date observed by  Türkiye on July 15—was held at the Cultural Center of the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat. Ahmet Demirok, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, addressed the event's participants.

The ambassador reminded that a coup attempt took place in Türkiye ten years ago but failed to garner support from the country's population. According to him, these events marked a significant chapter in Türkiye's modern history and have been designated as an official day of remembrance—the Day of Democracy and National Unity.

In his remarks, the ambassador also expressed appreciation to the Turkmen side for the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, noting that ties between Türkiye and Turkmenistan are built on the principles of brotherhood and good-neighborliness. He conveyed expressions of gratitude on behalf of the Turkish people to the leadership of Turkmenistan—the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the official part of the ceremony, the mufti recited verses in memory of the deceased.

In concluding his remarks, the ambassador honored the memory of those who lost their lives during the events of 2016 and wished the veterans well-being.

After the official part of the event, guests were able to view a photo exhibition dedicated to the commemorative day.
