The President of Turkmenistan has instructed that the CIS summit be held at a high level

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has instructed officials to ensure a high level of organization for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which is set to take place in the country this year. He made this statement during an expanded government meeting, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

"This year, Turkmenistan holds the chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States. In this context, it is essential to ensure a high level of organization for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State," said Serdar Berdimuhamedov, addressing members of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to him, a summit of CIS heads of state and other events of international significance are scheduled to be held in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone during the second half of this year. The President also instructed that preparations be made at a high level for the consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

In addition, the Head of State noted the need for proper preparations for a number of other international events scheduled for this year, as well as for the celebratory observance of the country’s Independence and Neutrality holidays.

As Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced, the next session of the Halk Maslahaty will be held in a ceremonial atmosphere during the celebrations of Turkmenistan’s sovereignty; the session will review the state's development and discuss upcoming tasks.

It should be noted that,  of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the CIS in 2026, meetings of various councils and commissions, as well as other gatherings and events, are being held. In this context, a meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place in Ashgabat on May 22, attended by the heads of government of the Commonwealth countries.

The meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State will be held on October 9 in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone.
