Exactly 237 years ago, Parisians stormed the Bastille fortress, then a prison for political prisoners and a symbol of royal despotism. To mark the occasion, various celebrations and events are held across France, including a military parade on the Champs-Élysées, public festivities, firefighters' balls, fireworks displays, and a variety of cultural events.
