On July 12, the former Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani—father of the country's current ruler—passed away at the age of 74.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan as well as on his own behalf, sent deep condolences to the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the passing of his father.

Expressing sincere empathy and support to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the people of the State of Qatar, the President of Turkmenistan wrote:

May Almighty Allah grant you and your family strength of spirit and patience during this difficult time. May the soul of the deceased rest in Paradise.

Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani led the state for 18 years and was considered the founder of modern Qatar. His reign is associated with reforms and the modernization of the country.
