As we previously reported, the 9th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan was held in Ashgabat.

The meeting focused on cooperation in the oil and gas and electric power sectors. It was emphasized that the two countries possess vast hydrocarbon reserves, and promoting a constructive partnership in this area is of great importance.

The ongoing construction of a new 1574-megawatt power plant in the Turkmenbashy etrap of the Balkan velayat creates the preconditions for discussing cooperation opportunities in the electric power sector, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
