The ambassador spoke about opportunities for Turkmen applicants at Armenian universities

Armenia welcomes prospective students from Turkmenistan wishing to pursue higher education in the country; however, the existing potential for developing educational cooperation is far from fully realized. This was stated by Arsen Avagyan, Armenia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, in an interview with the online publication Turkmenportal.

"Currently, 13 citizens of Turkmenistan are studying at higher education institutions in the Republic of Armenia. However, as you can appreciate, these figures are more than modest, given the untapped potential," he said.

According to the ambassador, the most sought-after fields of study among Turkmen students are architecture and construction, engineering, and medicine. In particular, training is provided in fields such as architecture, industrial and civil engineering, urban planning and cadastre, medicine, and pharmacy. Humanities disciplines are also represented, including international relations, linguistics, and other areas.

Avagyan noted that Armenia traditionally places great emphasis on developing international educational cooperation and welcomes Turkmen applicants wishing to pursue higher education in the country.

“In recent years, the admissions process for foreign citizens has become more convenient and modern. "Since last year, applications to higher education institutions in Armenia have been submitted electronically through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports' information system at fs.emis.am," the diplomat explained.

According to him, the application period for the 2026–2027 academic year from foreign citizens will begin on June 22, 2026. Theoretical examinations for admission to the first year of bachelor's degree programs in full-time and continuous integrated education will be held at higher education institutions in Armenia from August 28 to October 9, 2026.

"Armenian universities offer a wide range of educational programs and are also developing international cooperation and inter-university ties. We look forward to seeing more students from Turkmenistan attending Armenian higher education institutions, and we are convinced that educational contacts will contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples," the ambassador emphasized.
