Turkmenistan plans to implement 5G technologies across all sectors of the economy

Today, Turkmenistan is taking the necessary measures to extend 5G technology to all sectors of the economy, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Specific tasks regarding the widespread implementation of modern information and communication systems and the effective utilization of 5G and artificial intelligence capabilities are outlined in the "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028."Their solution focuses on comprehensive digitalization, the development of a national AI strategy, the application of AI technologies across various sectors, and the training and continuous professional development of specialists in the field.

Exploring the capabilities of 5G networks, integrating them into the operations of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Communications, and actively utilizing them across other sectors have been identified as priority tasks. The benefits of deploying this technology have been practically demonstrated in the city of Arkadag.

Compared to 4G, 5G offers ten times the bandwidth. This new technology holds great promise for applications in industry, healthcare, education, and other sectors; it creates opportunities to optimize process and software management via digital systems and enables seamless high-speed Internet access with thousands of devices connected simultaneously.

Favorable conditions are currently emerging to stimulate technological progress and advance it to a qualitatively new level, as well as to expand the range of electronic services—notably through the new e-SIM (virtual SIM card) service.Upon arrival in Turkmenistan, foreign nationals can seamlessly connect to the Internet using this mobile application without needing to purchase SIM cards from the national mobile operator. The technology also allows customers to link multiple numbers to a single mobile phone, the source notes.
