A weightlifter from Turkmenistan won gold at the Youth World Championships in Colombia

Turkmen weightlifter Ogulshat Amanova won the gold medal at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships currently taking place in the Colombian city of Cali.

In the under-53 kg weight category, Amanova lifted 86 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 191 kg. In addition to the overall gold medal, the athlete also won two small gold medals—one each for the snatch and the clean and jerk.

Another representative of Turkmenistan, Shabnam Kerimbayeva, also competed in this weight category. She lifted 83 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 188 kg, winning the tournament's bronze medal as well as a small silver medal in the clean and jerk.

The silver medal in the overall standings went to the Philippines' Jodi Peralta, who posted a result of 85 kg in the snatch and 103 kg in the clean and jerk (188 kg total).

The Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Cali will conclude on July 11.
