Universities of Turkmenistan have once again appeared in the THE Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026

Three universities from Turkmenistan have been included in the 8th edition of the global THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, receiving high praise from independent international experts at the British organization Times Higher Education (THE). This was reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

The Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, and the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University are featured in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.

This year, the ranking was presented under a new name—THE Sustainability Impact Ratings—replacing the previously published THE Impact Rankings. Turkmen universities participate successfully in this prestigious ranking every year, demonstrating the high caliber of their educational, research, innovation, and international activities.

The ranking evaluates universities based on their progress toward the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) formulated by the UN, which aim to boost social and economic development across the globe.

Based on the 2026 assessment results, universities in Turkmenistan improved their standing, demonstrating active and effective participation in achieving nine UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These include "Quality Education," "Affordable and Clean Energy," "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure," "Good Health and Well-being," "Clean Water and Sanitation," "Partnerships for the Goals," and others.

Overall, the 2026 global ranking features  1646 universities from 116 countries, based on their progress toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
