The coaching staff of the Turkmenistan youth weightlifting team has approved the final squad for the World Championships, which will take place from July 5 to 11 in the Colombian city of Cali.

Seven athletes have been named to the squad. Kerem Gurbandurdyyev and Atabek Azamatov (under-60 kg weight category), Shahin Hudaybergenov (under-65 kg), and Davut Kakageldyyev (under-79 kg) will compete in the junior division.

Shabnam Kerimbayeva and Ogulshat Amanova (up to 53 kg), as well as Gulzada Berdimuhamedova (up to 58 kg) will take part in the girls’ competition.

In 2025, the Youth World Weightlifting Championships were held in Peru, where the Turkmenistan national team won seven medals: three gold, one silver, and three bronze.
