The Turkmenistan national sambo team won 16 medals at the Asian and Oceania Championships, which concluded on June 28 in Manila. The Turkmen athletes’ medal haul includes 4 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze medals. This was reported on the website of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS).

From June 25 to 28, the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in the Philippine capital hosted two continental tournaments: the Asian and Oceanian Sambo Championships for senior athletes and the Asian and Oceanian Youth and Junior Sambo Championships. These premier continental events of the year were held in the Philippines for the first time in history.

The competitions were organized by the Sambo Union of Asia and Oceania (SSAO) and the Sambo Federation of the Philippines (PSFI). According to the organizers, more than 500 athletes from 31 countries in the Asia-Pacific region participated in the tournaments.

Gold medals were won by Jasur Dovrankuliev (under 79 kg, sports sambo, juniors), Alihan Aydogdyev (under 58 kg, combat sambo, juniors), Huseyn Begenjov (under 79 kg, combat sambo, juniors), and Sapar Dovletov (under 71 kg, sports sambo, men).

Silver medals were awarded to Serdar Sheripov (up to 53 kg, sport sambo, youths), Annamuhammet Annamuhammedov (up to 64 kg, sport sambo, youths), Myratgeldy Myradov (up to 88 kg, combat sambo, juniors), Hakberdy Jumayev (up to 58 kg, combat sambo, men), Isa Geldyev (up to 64 kg, combat sambo, men), Babamurat Bayramov (up to 64 kg, sport sambo, men), and Allanazar Orazmuhammedov (up to 79 kg, combat sambo, men).

Bronze medals were won by Ilshat Dovranov (up to 58 kg, sport sambo, juniors), Aymuhammet Gatyev (up to 71 kg, combat sambo, juniors), Merdan Myratgeldyev (up to 71 kg, combat sambo, men), Muhammetmyrat Babekov (up to 58 kg, sport sambo, men), and Permangeldy Durdyev (up to 88 kg, combat sambo, men).
