The match ended in a 1–1 draw after regulation and extra time. Julio Enciso scored for Paraguay (42nd minute), while Kai Havertz scored for Germany (54th minute). A goal by the German team in the 102nd minute was disallowed following a VAR review. Paraguay prevailed in the penalty shootout, winning 4–3.

At the conclusion of the group stage, the German national team finished first in Group E, while Paraguay placed third in Group D.
