Within the framework of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan on June 22, 2026, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents in the customs sphere was held.
Following high-level negotiations, the parties signed the Technical Conditions for the Exchange of Preliminary Information on Goods and the Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Customs Statistics of Mutual Trade.
The technical specifications provide for the creation of a mechanism for the systematic exchange of preliminary information on goods being transported. This will expedite customs procedures, reduce cargo clearance times, and increase the transparency of foreign trade transactions.
The Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Customs Statistics aims to improve the exchange of statistical data between the two countries and increase the reliability of accounting for mutual trade.
The implementation of the signed agreements is expected to contribute to the growth of mutual trade turnover and strengthen the region's transit potential.
