The head of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Malaysia issued a joint statement to the press

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim issued a joint statement to media representatives following the official visit of the Malaysian leader to Ashgabat. The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports this.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that the talks were held in an atmosphere of complete mutual understanding and high trust. He added that the parties comprehensively discussed all areas of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues. Turkmenistan and Malaysia advocate for the formation of a fair, equal, and secure system of international relations based on international law and the role of the UN.

The President thanked Malaysia for its continued support for Turkmenistan's neutrality and international initiatives, confirming that Ashgabat, in turn, will continue to support Kuala Lumpur's constructive positions.

In the economic sphere, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in the oil and gas sector, with Petronas playing a key role, as well as to develop partnerships in industry, agriculture, textiles, high technology, banking, and urban development. Separately, the intention was to create a transport corridor in the East-West direction, as well as to consider the possibility of opening a logistics center in Malaysia for the supply of Turkmen products to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Anwar Ibrahim, in turn, called the negotiations effective and praised the efforts of the head of Turkmenistan to strengthen cooperation between the states of the Central and Asia-Pacific regions. He also confirmed that Malaysia will continue to co-sponsor UN General Assembly resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan. Among the promising areas of cooperation, the Prime Minister identified the exchange of technologies and experience in the fields of banking, information technology, and the halal industry, as well as the training of young specialists.

At the conclusion of the official program, an official reception was held in honor of Anwar Ibrahim on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

Within the framework of his visit, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports, the head of the Malaysian government also visited the village of Gypchak near Ashgabat, where he honored the memory of the first President of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov, at the Turkmenbashy Spirituality Mosque and performed Friday prayers.
