Turkmenistan participated in the 11th UNESCO General Assembly for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 11th General Assembly of States Parties to the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which was held on June 17–18 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

The delegation of Turkmenistan included the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the French Republic, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO M. Charyev, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Ch. Rustemova, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as national experts on the protection of intangible cultural heritage.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the meeting addressed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of the Convention's provisions, improving international cooperation mechanisms, and strengthening the system for protecting intangible cultural heritage at the global level.

In its speech, the delegation of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the country's commitment to the principles of the 2003 Convention and noted the consistent state policy to preserve, study, and popularize the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with UNESCO and international initiatives aimed at protecting intangible cultural heritage as a crucial factor in strengthening intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding between peoples.
