The regular meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Astana. A delegation from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan participated in the forum, according to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense website.

Before the meeting, participants laid flowers at the "Defenders of the Fatherland" monument in the Kazakh capital.

Along with the Turkmen side, delegations from the General Staffs of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on the military-political situation, regional and Eurasian security issues, and prospects for military cooperation within the CIS.
