Pakistani Business Proposes Textile Plant, Data Center and Bank Branch to Turkmenistan

Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkmenistan Faryal Leghari and Chairman of Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB) and Nishat Group Mian Mohammad Mansha attended the Turkmen Textile Expo 2026, held on June 4.

On the sidelines of the event, the delegation held meetings with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan overseeing construction, energy and industry Baymyrat Annamamedov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers responsible for trade, textile industry and the private sector Nokerguly Atagulyev, and Minister of Textile Industry Nurmuhammet Orazgeldiyev.

The two sides discussed ways to increase trade turnover in the textile sector and prospects for opening textile houses and companies in both countries. Mian Mansha informed the Turkmen officials that Nishat Group already imports high-quality Turkmen yarn for the production of finished goods, particularly home textiles exported to international markets. He proposed establishing a manufacturing facility in Turkmenistan and setting up direct trade relations with local textile enterprises, eliminating intermediaries.

In addition, Mansha put forward an initiative to build a data center in Turkmenistan, citing the country's favorable electricity tariffs, and also offered to invest in the construction sector and open an MCB branch in the country. Pakistan's National Bank previously had an operational branch in Turkmenistan.

The meetings also saw proposals for developing air freight services for textile products and resuming direct air links between the two countries. The Turkmen side invited Nishat Group representatives to visit domestic textile factories and pledged to assist in boosting bilateral trade. Mian Mansha in turn invited the Turkmen ministers to visit Pakistan.

The Turkmen officials thanked the MCB/Nishat Group Chairman and the Pakistani side for participating in the expo, and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Pakistani mission in actively pursuing enhanced bilateral cooperation.
