The President of Turkmenistan received the CTBTO Executive Secretary

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

During the meeting, Floyd praised Turkmenistan's foreign policy, which is based on its permanent neutrality and aimed at ensuring global peace and security. It was also emphasized that the CTBTO attaches great importance to cooperation with Turkmenistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in turn, noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. Turkmenistan was among the first states to sign this document, which, according to the President, demonstrates the country's unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security.

The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan, relying on its status of permanent neutrality, three times recognized by the international community, consistently implements a foreign policy course aimed at ensuring global and regional security and sustainable development.

The parties noted that Turkmenistan is a party to key international treaties in the field of nuclear safety – the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, and the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia – and strictly complies with its obligations under them.
