Turkmenistan's GDP grew by 6,3% in the first five months of 2026

Turkmenistan's gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate for January–May 2026 was 6,3%. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers H. Geldimyradov announced this during a government meeting, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, positive dynamics were recorded across all sectors. The highest growth rates were in the transport and communications sector (10,2%), services (8,4%), trade (7,9%), and construction (6,4%). Industrial growth was 2,6%, and agriculture (1,3%).

Compared to the same period last year, production volume increased by 10,4%. Retail turnover grew by 10%, and foreign trade turnover by 8%.

State budget revenue was executed at 102,3%, and expenditure at 97,3%. Capital investment from all sources increased by 5,1% compared to the same period last year. Wages, pensions, state benefits, and student stipends were paid on time in budgetary and self-financing institutions.

After hearing the report, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of the measures being taken for the country's socioeconomic development and improving citizens' living standards. The head of state instructed that the necessary measures be taken to maintain GDP growth at the target level until the end of the year.
