Turkmen designer Anna Korostova presented her debut collection at an international fashion show in Ashgabat

Turkmen designer Anna Korostova presented her first major signature collection at a fashion show held at the international exhibition and fair "Turkmenextile Expo-2026" in Ashgabat. She shared the stage with designers from France, Morocco, Oman, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

The collection was named Anew, a word with a double meaning: in Turkmen, it refers to the designer's native city of Anew, and in English, it means "new beginning." "This is my major debut. My first major collection," Korostova admitted.

The designer's creative approach is based on fusing Turkmen motifs with European silhouettes. Spending time between Turkmenistan and Europe, she strives to create looks at the intersection of two cultures. The Anew collection includes dresses, skirts, and blouses crafted from Turkmen velvet with traditional patterns, keteni, and staple. "Staple is considered a very simple material, but I think it's brilliant—it's perfect for our Turkmen summer," the designer noted.

Korostova has been sewing since the age of seven, received a design degree, and then graduated with a degree in marketing and management. She says she's long been considering a large-scale show, but has previously limited herself to smaller presentations. On the eve of her runway appearance, the designer admitted she wasn't nervous: "I feel like I belong."

The international exhibition and fair "Turkmenextile Expo-2026" is taking place in Ashgabat from June 4 to 6, bringing together over 100 companies from around the world. The event's topics cover textile machinery, natural fiber processing, fashion and design, jewelry, and other areas of the light industry.
