President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the people of Turkmenistan on World Bicycle Day

Today, World Bicycle Day is widely celebrated in Turkmenistan. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to his compatriots on the occasion.

"I wholeheartedly congratulate you on World Bicycle Day – an international holiday of health and inspiration! I am confident that the upcoming events in the year 'Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds' to commemorate this remarkable international holiday will increase our pride in our Motherland, our peaceful and happy life, and the tremendous achievements of our sovereign Fatherland!" the address reads.

World Bicycle Day holds a special place in the national calendar as a celebration of the lofty ideals of friendship and peace, sport and humanism, in the name of the unity and cohesion of our society. This is why this international holiday is widely and enthusiastically celebrated in Turkmenistan, where colorful events, competitions, and mass bike rides are organized on this day.

"We are proudly continuing the age-old traditions that are of great importance to our people, one of which is raising a physically strong and spiritually rich younger generation. In a short period of time, by historical standards, the country has built large sports and equestrian complexes, stadiums, sports schools, an Olympic village, and developed modern specialized infrastructure," the President noted.

Along with other important priorities, Turkmenistan, by actively adhering to international environmental documents, places significant emphasis on environmental protection and promoting healthy lifestyles among the population. The country regularly hosts mass races, bike rides, and physical education, sports, and cultural events.

"Cycling is the most beneficial sport, having a positive impact on human health, and the number of its supporters in Turkmenistan is steadily growing. For young people—the bright future of our country—all the conditions are being created to combine work and play, engage in various sports, including national ones, and avoid bad habits. "We will continue to work with dignity in this direction," the head of state concluded, wishing everyone good health, a prosperous and happy life, and great success in their work for the country's prosperity, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Let us remind that World Bicycle Day was established by the UN on June 3 at the initiative of Turkmenistan.
