Turkmenistan Customs has implemented AI into its “Single Window” system

The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has integrated artificial intelligence (AI) technology into the “Single Window” for Export-Import Operations web portal (tradebridge.gov.tm), the agency's press service reported.

"Starting June 1, 2026, system users will have access to an artificial intelligence function that automates key customs administration processes," the statement said.

According to the press service, the AI allows for the identification of product codes in accordance with the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity (TN VED), the receipt of preliminary information on necessary permits, and the calculation of estimated customs duty rates.

The project was implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as part of initiatives to digitalize customs activities, develop regional connectivity, and develop the concept of "smart" customs.

The integrated system operates in real time and supports three languages – Turkmen, Russian and English.

The implementation of AI is aimed at simplifying the classification of goods, reducing customs clearance times, improving the accuracy of customs duties, and maintaining foreign trade statistics. The project's implementation, as noted in the statement, is part of a large-scale digital transformation of the country's customs service and its integration into the international trade system.
