The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania organized a bike ride in Bucharest to mark World Bicycle Day. The event was supported by the Bucharest Municipality and the Green Revolution Association.

The bike ride was attended by heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Romania, representatives of foreign embassies, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Turkmen citizens and students.

Before the start, Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Romania, Annamammet Annayev, delivered a welcoming speech. The diplomat emphasized the role of sports diplomacy in promoting Turkmenistan's principles of positive neutrality, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting a healthy lifestyle—key pillars of the country's foreign policy under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The event participants particularly emphasized the significance of World Bicycle Day, established by a UN General Assembly resolution in 2018 at the initiative of Turkmenistan. They also emphasized the importance of the UN General Assembly resolution of March 15, 2022, on integrating cycling into public transport systems for sustainable development—another Turkmen initiative.

The bike ride participants expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for its consistent promotion of environmental, humanitarian, and sports initiatives in the international arena aimed at strengthening international dialogue and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the statement noted.
