Turkmenistan and ADB explore the country's wind potential for renewable energy development

Turkmenistan, together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is conducting a comprehensive study of the country's wind potential to develop renewable energy. This was announced by Energy Minister Annageldy Saparov at the "White City of Ashgabat" international conference.

"With the support of the Asian Development Bank, comprehensive work is currently underway to study Turkmenistan's wind potential. These studies will serve as the scientific basis for determining the most effective locations for installing future wind farms, which will make a significant contribution to the environmentally friendly future of our city and country," he said.

According to Saparov, environmental protection and the implementation of green technologies are priorities of state policy. The minister also announced the completion of a large-scale project to create the country's ring energy grid, ensuring reliable and stable electricity supply to the capital. The country is currently modernizing and digitalizing its power grid infrastructure.

Speaking about energy potential, Saparov noted that Turkmenistan has 11 power plants with a total installed capacity of over 6,500 MW. According to him, this allows not only to fully meet domestic needs but also to increase electricity exports.

The international conference "White City Ashgabat" is taking place May 24–25, marking the 145th anniversary of the Turkmen capital. Delegates from 55 countries are participating. The event is organized by the Turkmen Energy Forum (TEF) in conjunction with the Ashgabat City Administration, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Industry and Construction, the Ministry of Construction, and the “Turkmenhimiya” State Concern.
