On May 22, 2026, Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with former Japanese Prime Minister and head of the Liberal Democratic Party's Growth Strategy Headquarters, Fumio Kishida, the Embassy of Turkmenistan reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of political, inter-parliamentary, and inter-party relations, as well as economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.
