In Kyrgyzstan, civil servants are now allowed to work without jackets and ties

A new dress code has been introduced for government employees in Kyrgyzstan. Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration Adylbek Kasymaliev signed a decree allowing government employees to work in shirts without jackets or ties during the warmer months, 24.kg reports.

The main goal of the innovation is energy conservation. According to Kasymaliev, eliminating business suits will reduce the use of air conditioners in administrative buildings and ease the strain on the country's power grid.

"Right now, we work in suits and turn on the air conditioners. If we just wear shirts, we don't even need to turn on the air conditioners. We need to save electricity," the prime minister said.

As an example, Kasymaliev cited the experience of Japan, where a similar program has been in place since 2005 and has saved the government billions of yen. The order came into effect on May 14. However, the previous dress code will remain in effect at official protocol and international events.

The Ministry of Culture has been tasked with developing designs for business attire for civil servants, including those with elements of national style.
