On the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly, held in Geneva from May 18 to 23, a meeting was held between the Turkmen delegation and World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry Azat Ovezov.

During the talks, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in healthcare and prospects for collaboration in priority public health areas. The Turkmen delegation invited the head of the WHO to visit the country in October of this year to participate in regional events.

In addition to the bilateral meeting, the Turkmen delegation is participating in the Assembly itself, where representatives of WHO Member States consider issues of global health, international cooperation, and the sustainable development of public health systems.
