A meeting was held in Ashgabat between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan Lee Won-jae.

The parties discussed the development of political and diplomatic cooperation, including regular consultations between the foreign ministries, interparliamentary contacts, and interaction within international organizations, primarily the UN. It was noted that the countries provide mutual support for international initiatives, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The parties also focused on cooperation in the multilateral format “Central Asia – Republic of Korea”.

When discussing the strategic and long-term focus of trade and economic cooperation, the significant contribution of Korean companies to the implementation of major projects in Turkmenistan's gas chemical industry, transport infrastructure, and shipbuilding was emphasized.

Active cooperation in education, science, sports, and Korean language studies in Turkmenistan was also noted.
