An international conference on "Trade Union Action on Climate Change" was held in the capital of Azerbaijan. The event was organized by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV).

The conference was attended by representatives of trade unions, government agencies, and international organizations, as well as experts in the field of climate policy and social dialogue.

At the opening ceremony, welcoming remarks were made by the Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, Sahib Mammadov; the Chairperson of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan and the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan, Oguljennet Berdiliyeva; the Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues, Mukhtar Babayev; as well as representatives of government agencies, international organizations, and the Parliament of Azerbaijan.

During the event, participants discussed the role of trade unions in shaping climate policy, issues of a just transition to a sustainable economy, the protection of labor rights, and the development of social dialogue. Special attention was paid to the creation of green jobs, retraining of personnel, and strengthening the social protection system in the context of climate change.
