A man has been arrested in Singapore for making thousand false calls to police in eight days

Singapore authorities have arrested a 37-year-old man accused of making numerous false emergency calls, The Straits Times reports.

According to the publication, between April 21 and 28, Fu Jia Hong made over thousand calls to four police stations using foreign phone numbers. He remained silent during each call. The number of calls to individual stations ranged from 24 to 425.

The suspect was detained on May 11. A preliminary court hearing was held two days later, where he was charged with four counts of obstructing the activities of government officials, as well as with using a SIM card registered in someone else's name.

If found guilty, the man faces up to six months in prison and a fine of up to 2 500 Singapore dollars. The court also ordered a psychiatric evaluation. The next hearing is scheduled for May 26.
