An official welcoming ceremony for the dry cargo vessel Gadamly, the first cargo vessel built in Turkmenistan, took place at the Baku International Seaport, Trend reports.
The vessel, with a lifting capacity of 6100 tons, is designed to carry 240 twenty-foot containers and will be used in regular container shipping between the ports of Baku and Turkmenbashy.
The commissioning of the Gadamly is considered a significant step in the development of the Middle Corridor, including the Eurasian Transport Route. On May 8, a ceremony marking the vessel's maiden voyage was held at the Turkmenbashy International Seaport, attended by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The new vessel is also expected to positively impact the annual growth of the Baku port's cargo handling figures.
