United World Wrestling and USA Wrestling have announced that the 2027 World Wrestling Championships will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The competition will take place from September 11th to 19th at the Thomas & Mack Center at the University of Nevada. The tournament is of particular international significance: it will serve as the first official Olympic qualifying event leading to the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

The previous World Championships for adults took place in September 2025. The competition took place in Zagreb, Croatia, at the Arena Zagreb from September 13 to 21. The program included three disciplines—freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women's wrestling—with medals awarded in ten weight categories in each. The next World Championships for adults, in 2026, are scheduled for October 24 to November 1 in Manama, Bahrain.

At the upcoming 2027 World Championships in Las Vegas, Turkmen athletes will have the opportunity to compete for Olympic berths. The Thomas & Mack Center, one of the most renowned multi-purpose gyms in the United States, will host wrestlers from dozens of countries, for whom this tournament will serve as a launching pad in their preparations for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
