The Azerbaijani Embassy held an event in Ashgabat in honor of Heydar Aliyev's 103rd birthday

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized an event at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijan's national leader, Heydar Aliyev. The theme of the meeting was Azerbaijani-Turkmen fraternal and strategic cooperation.

Participants viewed a photo exhibition in the institute's lobby, reflecting Heydar Aliyev's foreign policy and the history of relations between the two countries. A video about the life of the national leader and the visit of the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Azerbaijan was shown in the assembly hall.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gismet Gezalov delivered a lecture in which he focused on Heydar Aliyev's foreign policy and the strategic foundations of bilateral cooperation. According to the diplomat, Heydar Aliyev viewed the Caspian region as an area of stability and cooperation, and considered relations with Turkmenistan a key element of Azerbaijan's regional policy.

The ambassador also noted that the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed in 2017, strengthened the legal and political foundation of bilateral relations. The importance of mutual high-level visits held in 2025, as well as the decisions of the Gabala Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, was particularly emphasized. Gezalov noted the expansion of cooperation in the fields of economics, energy, transport, science, and culture, highlighting the strategic role of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.

At the end of the event, students were presented with a Turkmen translation of Azerbaijani poet Zalimkhan Yakub's poetry collection "Episode of Eternity," dedicated to Heydar Aliyev. Participants included the institute's Vice-Rector, Gaygysyz Dovletov, faculty, students, and media representatives.
