A long-lived Turkmen, veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, resident of the Mary velayat Aydogdy Amadyev is celebrating his 108th spring.
Representatives of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, along with public organizations from the velayat, came to wish the veteran a happy Victory Day, according to the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
The veteran was presented with commemorative gifts and fresh bouquets of flowers, after which they chatted with him. Students from the Kuvvat Institute's music group performed several songs for the veteran.
Aydogdy Amadyev went to the front at the age of 23 as a machine gunner. He received his baptism of fire in the 46th Rifle Regiment of the 150th Division near Moscow. He ended the war as a cavalryman in the 135th Cavalry Regiment of the 52nd Cavalry Division.
For his military merits and courage demonstrated during the Berlin Operation, he was awarded the Order of Glory, third degree, the medal "For the Capture of Berlin", and later the Order of the Patriotic War, first degree.
