Chinese cotton varieties are being tested on 650 hectares in Turkmenistan

Cotton sowing is underway this year on 650 hectares of land in Turkmenistan's Dashoguz province, using seven Chinese seed varieties. The largest portion of this land—450 hectares—is located in the Sadulla Rozmetov business association, according to the newspaper "Turkmenistan."

Sowing is carried out using Xinjiang agricultural technology and specialized Chinese-made equipment. The machines perform three operations simultaneously: sowing the seeds, covering them with plastic film, and laying the drip irrigation pipes. This approach accelerates seed germination, protects the seedlings from adverse weather conditions and pests, and significantly reduces water consumption—especially important in the region's arid climate.

According to the farm's deputy chairman and Mejlis deputy Rasul Sadullaev, Chinese cotton varieties compare favorably to traditional varieties due to their high yield, drought resistance, and superior fiber quality. The varieties used include "Zolotaya Selina-1565," "Xinjiang Jinhua-98," "Xinlusao-64," "Jinkeng-1402," "Xinshi-518," "Hinlushun-87," and "Xinlusao-78."

The farm's total cotton sowing area this season will be approximately 7 500 hectares. In addition to Chinese varieties, 2 000 hectares are planned for sowing the Uzbek variety "Khorezm-127," which has also proven itself to be a high-yielding crop in the country's climate.
