The United States will issue a series of passports featuring the image of current President Donald Trump to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence. These ID cards will be issued by default at the Passport Agency in Washington, D.C., the State Department announced on Tuesday, April 28. They clarified that passports issued online or at another agency will be issued in a standard design.

According to the published passport mockup, Trump's face and his signature in gold letters will appear on the inside front cover. The back cover will feature a fragment of American artist John Trumbull's painting "Declaration of Independence." The exact number of such ID cards planned for issue is unknown.

The standard design for the inside cover of the US passport features a painting by another American artist, Edward Percy Moran. It depicts Francis Scott Key, the author of the lyrics to the US national anthem, after the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore—the event that inspired Key to create his most famous work.
