Within the framework of the joint project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, “Developing National Capacity through Improving Regulatory Environment towards Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building Sector,” funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), an interactive youth seminar “Green Cities through the Eyes of Youth” was held on 28 April 2026 in Ashgabat at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction.

The event aimed to foster environmental awareness, strengthen leadership skills, and deepen understanding of sustainable urban development principles among students and young professionals.

The seminar brought together students from leading universities across the country, SDG Ambassadors, climate activists, as well as experts and international consultants from UNDP and the European Union project “Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia” (SECCA).

The event marked an important step in strengthening environmental awareness among young people in Turkmenistan, expanding their role in promoting sustainable urban solutions, and encouraging their engagement in global climate action and sustainable development initiatives.
