Pakistan and Turkmenistan discussed expanding cooperation in sports

Pakistani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Faryal Leghari met with Allaberdy Saparov, Chairman of Turkmenistan's State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports. The Pakistani Embassy in Ashgabat press service reported this.

During the meeting, the diplomat emphasized the need to strengthen practical cooperation in sports between the two countries.

Leghari proposed organizing joint and exchange visits between Turkmen and Pakistani sports teams, friendly matches, and mutual training opportunities in football, hockey, volleyball, martial arts, swimming, and gymnastics.

The ambassador invited the Turkmen side to the Shandur Polo Festival – an annual tournament held in the first week of July on the high-altitude Shandur Plateau (3700-3800 m) in Pakistan, considered the highest polo field in the world.

The diplomat noted that Pakistan and Turkmenistan's love for horses could be strengthened through bilateral exchanges of equestrian performances, the sharing of knowledge and skills through Pakistani performances in tent pegging (an equestrian sport – ed.), polo, and equestrian dancing, as well as participation in horse racing.
