Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Astana on a two-day working visit at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the “Watan” news program reported.
Official representatives of the Kazakh side and members of the Turkmen delegation greeted the head of state at Astana International Airport. During his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov will participate in the Regional Environmental Summit (RES-2026) and a meeting of the Council of Heads of State – Founding Members of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).
The forums' agenda includes regional cooperation on sustainable development, climate change, and water and environmental issues in Central Asia. The head of Turkmenistan will address both events and outline Ashgabat's position on key agenda topics. The heads of state will also visit a specialized environmental exhibition.
This is the first regional environmental summit. The forum, organized at the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, aims to bring together the leaders of Central Asian countries to develop joint measures to combat climate change with the assistance of the UN.
