The closing ceremony of a school football tournament, organized as part of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan's "Football for Schools" program, took place in the city of Arkadag. The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports reported this.
The competition was held under the motto "Schools are united by football, friendship strengthens." The event was jointly organized by the Arkadag city departments of education, physical education, and sports, as well as the city council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan.
The awards ceremony took place on the sports grounds of the city's second secondary school, specializing in English. The young champions were presented with cups and commemorative prizes. Players from the local football club, Arkadag, participated in the event.
The organizers timed the tournament to coincide with April, the month of World Health Day. According to the speakers, the competition was not only a sporting celebration but also a demonstration of friendship and unity among the younger generation.
Previously, legendary Bulgarian footballer, 1994 Ballon d'Or winner, and former Barcelona player Hristo Stoichkov visited Turkmenistan as part of the FIFA Football for Schools program.
